Cupcakes for a Cause

Me and Jose back in 2005 in Bulembu, Swaziland.
Meet "My" Jose!
In the summer of 2005, I volunteered in an orphanage in Swaziland, Africa for a month. A year later, I graduated from college, sold my car, packed my life into several suitcases, and moved there.

I know you're not supposed to have favorites...but I did. And his name was Jose (pronounced with a hard "j" sound and not like an "h"). Jose stole my heart from the moment we met! He was the most bubbly, sweetest nine year old boy, that could make anyone smile. We spent hours making up games and using our imaginations. I loved that kid and wanted to bring him home in my suitcase!

Jose in 2012.

Fast forward eight years. Jose is now 17!!! (I keep re-counting how old he is--to me he will always be that nine year old!). I am so excited to be back in Jose's life, only in a different way this time. I get to support Jose each month financially! I am one of several people that get to give specifically towards Jose and his education, and I am thrilled that I get to be a part of it!

I have committed that a portion of every cupcake order goes towards Jose! Every little bit makes a difference. Who knew cupcakes could help change a life?!

A Pair of Shoes Could Save a Life!

In December of 2012, my sister and her best friend got to go to Burundi and Kenya, Africa. They came back with a passion to help prevent human trafficking by raising money for Micro Loans for women, and to get Crocs on the feet of every shoeless child! One of their events is called Sole Sister Parties. This is a fun night for women and their friends to live life generously together.
